- Applicants are free to apply up to 90 days prior to their date of travel. The Embassy recommends that you apply at least 3 weeks prior to your date of travel to accommodate any unforeseen processing delays.
- The German Embassy issues visas for Germany and for the other Schengen states. The Schengen visa issued by the German Embassy gives access to 26 Schengen countries in total. However, the Schengen Visa applications will only be accepted by The German Visa Application Centre if Germany is the country of maximum stay. Should the duration of the stay be the same in several Schengen States, Germany must be the first point of entry if making an application at the German Visa Application Centre.
- The Germany Visa Application Centre is an acceptance centre and, as such is not authorised to advise/recommend any visa type to a prospective applicant. The Applicant should ascertain the visa category he/she is eligible for based on the purpose of travel by going to the Visa Types section and selecting the Visa Information tab at top of page and choosing the applicable category for their purpose of travel.
- After choosing the eligible visa category, applicants should select the Documents Required section of the selected category to check the required documents. Photocopies are recommended as documents will not be returned. Submit originals only where specified.
- We recommend applying as early as possible as most visa categories can be applied for at any time, Visa can only be issued within 120 days of the program start date.
